Macau-based curator and creative producer
Founder of art group, MyLand Culture
Pal LOK Chok has extensive experience in cross-disciplinary artistic curation and practices. She founded the non-profit art organization "MyLand Culture" in 2013, through which she has consistently organized cross-disciplinary cultural and artistic projects which are community and socially engaged, and fostered international and local art exchanges. The organization has since become one of the most active art collectives in Macao.
The projects she initiated and curated manifest primarily through exhibitions, performances, and various independent art festivals. In recent years, her curatorial focus has revolved around local memories, urban spaces, human existential conditions and emotions etc, while site-specific and cross-disciplinary experimentation serve as her frequent curatorial approaches. Her curatorial works have been shown at the Macao Museum of Art, the Macao International Art Biennale, K11 Musea Hong Kong and various local or overseas professional art spaces, as well as in public and alternative urban settings.
Currently, Lok is a lecturer at the Faculty of Arts and Design of Macao Polytechnic University. Her writings have also been published in numerous cultural magazines, newspapers, and on digital platforms. In 2012-2013, she was awarded an overseas studies scholarship by the Macao Cultural Affairs Bureau to pursue a master's degree in arts management. Later, she worked at the Cultural Affairs Bureau, participating in researches and implementations of public policies and funding programs for cultural and creative industries. She also served as the Head of Art Innovation at Artelli, a major art space in Macao, overseeing art content planning, curation, and exhibition production. During her time there, she contributed to curating art projects and solo exhibitions for internationally renowned artists such as Jean-Michel Basquiat and Nobuyoshi Araki. Lok has also launched the independent art space project “MyLand Living Room”, offering a platform for exhibitions, experimental theater, and music performances etc.
